Stylistic Differences "--chaos"

What is Stylistic Differences "--chaos"?

Think of Stylistic Differences "--chaos" as a way to introduce surprise into your image creation. When chaos is set to 0 (the default), the images Midjourney creates will be more closely aligned with your prompts - like following a recipe exactly as it was made.
However, if you increase the chaos value, it will add more creativity. This means Midjourney may take some creative leaps and give you different and unexpected image results - just like adding extra spices to a recipe to see what new flavors come out. So by adjusting the chaos value, you decide how much creative "spice" to add to your images! You can set the chaos value between 0 and 100.

How to set?

Click the setting button on the right side of the input box

Find Style variation in the settings pop-up window and adjust the parameter value

Stylize "--s or --stylize"

What is stylize "--s or --stylize"?

Think of stylize as a slider that adjusts the degree of artistic creativity applied to the image. At a lower stylize setting, it's like asking the image to follow your prompt closely - Midjourney will stick to the facts very closely without too many additional touches. At a higher stylize setting, it's like giving Midjourney more freedom to interpret your ideas. The image may look more artistic and visually interesting, but may stray from the specific details of your prompt. So, stylize gives you the choice of whether to make the image more literal (based on your prompt), or more creative and artistic.

How to set the matching degree "--s or --stylize"?

Click the setting button on the right side of the input box

Find the Match adjustment parameter value in the settings pop-up window

Image Quality "--q"

What is Image Quality "--q"?

Quality is like setting how much effort Midjourney puts into creating your first set of images. At lower quality settings, it's like drawing a quick sketch. It takes less time, so you'll see the result sooner, but it may have less detail. This option is great for when you want to try out a lot of ideas quickly without using up too much GPU time.
On the other hand, higher quality is like making a detailed painting. It takes more time and effort, so you may see more texture and detail. However, if too much detail is added, it can sometimes make the picture look a little off.
By default, the quality level is 1, which only affects your initial image generation, not subsequent variations or enlargements. In Midjourney version 6.1, you can choose a quality value of 0.5, 1, or 2. For versions 6, 5.2, and Niji 5, the options are 0.25, 0.5, and 1. Adjust these settings to your needs and see how they affect your creative process!
